Мета: Навчальна: Вчити учнів усному мовленню, вмінню відповідати на запитання; ввести та опрацювати нові слова та словосполучення;

Розвивальна: розвивати комунікативні вміння учнів; тренувати у аудіюванні, розвивати творче мислення, уяву, увагу, спостережливість;

Освітня: розширяти уявлення учнів про географічне положення нашої країни, її культуру, історію тощо;

Виховна: виховувати почуття патріотизму та національної гордості.

         You know that Ukraine has a glorious and tragic history. For centuries, the Ukrainian people has been struggling for liberty and independence. At last on the 24^th of August in 1991 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine proclaimed the Independence of Ukraine.

         And now I offer to your attention the video about Ukraine. Listen to it very attentively and then you’ll do some tasks.

         Look at the blackboard and remember the new words and word-combinations.

         Welcome to Ukraine! One of the largest European countries. Its population is forty-seven million people. And its history counts more than 6 millennium. Ukraine is situated in the centre of Europe. Ukraine has ancient traditions.  Ukraine is the parliament-presidential republic. The head of state is the President, the head of government is the Prime-minister. The state language is Ukrainian, the currency is the Ukrainian Hryvnya. The biggest cities are: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovs’k, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv and Odessa. There are many nationalities in Ukraine.

         Ukraine is associated with beautiful fields and landscapes. The Trypillya tribes were the first on the territory of Ukraine. In the 9^th century upon the blessing of Apostle  Andrew, they built a glorious city of Kyiv on the banks of River Dnipro. It became the capital of Kyiv Rus. Ukraine has subjected to harassment, it was fighting for its independence and freedom. Hetmans Bohdan Hmelnytsky and  Ivan Mazepa, poet Taras Shevchenko, Simon Petlyura opened a new page in Ukrainian’s history.

         In the 11^th  century Prince Yaroslav the Wise collected the first library in Kyiv Rus. Kyiv-Mogyla Academy was the first East-European University. Ukraine made a great contribution to the space exploration.
